[TAG] The Seven Deadly Sins of Beauty

The wonderful Ginger of gingerlovesmakeup fame has tagged me to do the Seven Deadly Sins of Beauty tag, I really love doing tags so here we go 🙂

Greed: What’s your most expensive beauty item?
From sheer money that I put down for it probably my MAC palettes, which came in around the 40€ mark.

Wrath: What item do you have a strong love/hate relationship with?
Self tanner I guess. I would love to be able to make it work for me but it just never does.

Gluttony: What brand takes up most of your collection?
essence and Catrice are the frontrunners here, they really have stepped up their game in the past years.

Sloth: What product do you ignore the most due to laziness?
I don’t moisturize my body as much as I should. Sometimes I just leave it for a day or two (which you really shouldn’t if your skin is as dry as mine). And sometimes I only use a wipe to ‘wash’ my face at night because I can’t be bothered to go upstairs and properly wash it #epicfail

Pride: Which product gives you the most confidence?
That’s a tie between my foundation, particularly my Studio Fix Fluid by MAC and a really bright in- your- face lipstick like my Catrice 230 It’s A Matte World. I can totally see myself wearing that lipstick when I have a good skin day without any make up just some good moisturizer, bronzer and half a ton of mascara <3.

Lust: What item is at the top of your list?
Hmmmm, I really wish I could afford a  really expensive perfume like Chanel Coco Noir or Jo Malone Velvet Rose and Oud. Also I decided to treat myself to either the Naked 1 or 2 palette when I hand in my bachelor thesis in a couple of months.

Envy: Which makeup product/look looks great on others but not on you?
Anything turquoise. I wish I could wear bronzey eyes in the summer with a pop of turquoise underneath, but the color clashes violently with my eyecolor so no can do. It looks stunning on other people, though!

I really enjoyed doing this tag, if you would like to do it, too, it would be awesome if you could send me a link so I can read your answers too.
I’m sorry it took me so long to write the tag down, alas, presentations and essays came in the way, now I only have to write two more exams and then I am free, well sort of, I still have a term paper to write -.- And my thesis. Hmph.

Oh well. Thanks Ginger for tagging me, I had a ball with this!

Have a good day, everybody! Read you on sunday, the Sunday Round Up is already in the works! 🙂

[TAG] Would you rather?

I was tagged by my Snowhoney to do the ‘Would you rather?Tag’ and I thought it looked like a really fun tag, so let’s get started:

1. Would you rather lose all of your mascaras, eyeliners, lipsticks, and lip glosses or lose all of your palettes and eye shadows?

This is a toughy. Generally I would say , yes , take my eyeshadows over my lipsticks but when I think of all of my limited edition MAC palettes that I so carefully accumulated I get a little nervous. Oh, well take my eyeshadows, MAC tends to repromote them anyway.

2. Would you rather chop off all your hair or never be able to cut it again?

That’s easier, I would totally chop off my hair, in fact I am already considering to go another inch shorter soon, we’ll see.

3. Would you rather have a coral cheek or a pink cheek?

My skintone is fairly neutral, so both would work. Considering my blush collection I would probably go for coral because most of my blushes have that shade in one variation or another.

4. If you had £1000 to spend, would you rather buy clothes or makeup?

I don’t normally spend that much money on clothes and I already have a ton of make up so I probably should spend the £1000 on updating my wardrobe.

5. Would you rather apply lipstick as eyeliner, or eyeliner as lipstick?

Eyeliner as lipstick! You can always use gloss etc. to make it wearable. Plus I have lipsticks that are *almost* black, so it would be just a small step to a black lip. The more I think about it the more I like the idea 😀

6. Would you rather only shop at MAC or Sephora?

We don’t have Sephora in Germany, but if I had both options I would probably still go for MAC. They make the only foundation that perfectly suits my skintone.

7. Would you rather only use one eyeshadow color or one lip color for the rest of your life?

Well, I could happily spend my life wearing MAC’s Creme d’Nude day in day out, but just one eyeshadow? God, no!

8. Would you rather wear winter clothes in summer or summer clothes in winter?

I tend to wear winter clothes in summer anyway because I get cold really easily, so that’s easy. Plus it normally doesn’t get that hot here anyway…

9. Would you rather have dark nails or bright nails all year round?

Dark nails! I don’t like light colors on my nails at all, maybe because I am so pale anyway.

10. Would you rather give up your favorite lip product or your favorite eye product?

I think I’d rather give up my Feline eye pencil, than any of my lipsticks.

11. Would you rather only be able to wear your hair in a ponytail or a messy bun?

Messy bun! I always go for the bun over the ponytail.

12. Would your rather never be able to paint your nails again or never use lipgloss?

I hate lipgloss, sorted! 😀

13. Would you rather shave your eyebrows and have none at all or sharpie them in everyday?

I spend a lot of time on my brows, my face is not complete with un-filled in eyebrows, but sharpie? I’m afraid neither is acceptable.

14. Would you rather live without makeup or nail polish?

I could probably get by without make up, but I don’t want to just ‘get by’ and nailpolish really protects my sensitive nails. Had I to go to work without it my nails would all over the place. It is a bit of deal breaker but I need both, nailpolish probably a tiny little bit more.

I tag everyone who wants to to do this tag. If you do, it would be lovely if you sent me the link, I’d love to read what your answers are!

The Sweater Weather TAG

I’ve been wanting to do another tag post for a while because I think they are fun, so when Miss Glamorazzi popped up with the sweater weather tag it was a done deal. Also today is Thanksgiving in the states and what better to post on a day like this than this lovely fall tag (even though we are not celebrating it here in GER, still my twitter timeline is all festive and it’s hard to escape that even if you are quite under the weather and in bed).
So here are the questions:

1.Favorite Candle Scent?
You know I am all over my Yankee Candle tarts and I picked up a couple that I really love but my all time favorite for fall has to be Cinnamon Stick, which is a straight up cinnamon scent and it feels very warm and comforting to me. Runner Ups are Vanilla Chai, Home Sweet Home and Apple&Pine.

2.Coffee, Tea or Hot Chocolate?
All three? I love love love hot beverages in every shape and form. If I want something really sweet and creamy I opt for a Chai Latte or a cappuccino. Random fact: I always pour a little peppermint syrup in my cappuccino, i just love the extra sparkle this gives to my taste buds. If it’s later in the day and I want to go caffeine free I go for hot chocolate. If I want something a little less rich and a little more refreshing I go milk-free and drink tea. Green in the morning and herbal or fruity throughout the day. Some of my faves are the Lipton Peppermint and Cinnamon, Meßmer Peppermint and Orange and the Teekanne Chinese Sencha and Apple. I drink all of these with a hint of apple juice to sweeten them and cool them down a little, even the Sencha. If I drink a little sharper green tea I go for honey instead.
Oh, a little extra tip (as if this answer wasn’t longwinded enough): I love to boil orange juice with cinnamon sticks and drink that brew especially when I just came back from the christmas market. The warmth of it seems to crawl all the way into my toes and fingertips. Gingerteas are really warming, too if you come in from the cold.

3.What’s the best fall memory you have?
When I was really little my parents would take me to the St. Martin’s Day lanternparade and we would make lanterns at home or in kindergarten and walk around the village singing. At first my parents would put a little lightbulb in my lantern to make it glow, when I grew older they gave me a candle. I always wanted the lightbulb back though, I didn’t like the candle at all, I was so scared to set the lantern on fire.
A more recent memory or kind of tradition is having the first mulled wine of the season with my Dad while waiting for the tickets of our parish carneval to go on sale, it’s always so nice 🙂

4.Which Make Up Trend do you prefer: Dark Lips or Winged Liner?
I like both a lot, especially combining them! This season I am gravitating a little more towards the dark lips though. Kate Moss 107. Nuff said.

5.Best Fragrance for Fall?
Anything heavy and warm. I particularly love my J.Lo Glow at the moment and the original (black) Dita von Teese scent.

6.Favorite Thanksgiving Food?
We don’t have Thanksgiving here, so I’ll give you my favorite Christmas food instead and being from Germany there can only be one proper answer for this: Potato Salad! If you are looking for the one national German dish, this is it. We may not all eat it on Christmas (though a lot of us do) but I guarantee you 99% of German families have a special potato salad recipe that has been handed down for generations. Man, I can’t tell you how much I’m looking forward to this on Christmas Eve *__*

7.What is Autumn Weather like where you live?
Cold, rainy and foggy but also crisp and clear and gloriously sunny. I really love fall, it is my favorite season here. We just dipped below zero this week and had the first snow fall but before that we had the nicest time of color changing leaves that set a stark contrast against the gray sky or really glowed in the sun. So SO pretty!

8.Most worn Sweater?
Probably my overly long knitted h&m v-neck in a muted red with leggings and boots ❤

l.t.r.: Catrice Matchpoint C03 Rockby, Astor Fashion Studio 261 Royal Bronze, Astor Perfect Stay 505/303 Taupe

9.Must-Have Nailpolish this Fall?
My favorites for fall are my oxblood red from catrice and my lovely duo chrome from Astor, and the cream taupe also from Astor.

10.Football Games or jumping in Leave Piles?
Football games, hands down! I wish American Football was more readily available to watch here in Germany but European football games I love, too. I always feel utterly lost when there are no games on over the weekend. Plus I am really nervous to jump into leave piles, especially if they have been sitting there for a while. I’m always scared I might disturb hedgehogs or other little creatures resting in there.

11.Skinny Jeans or Leggings?
I wear both but ever since I got my fleecelined leggings from Primark, they definitely take the cake.

12.Combat Boots or Uggs?
Neither nor. I have a pair of winter Converse with a membrane to keep me nice and warm and my well-loved faux fur lined Blowfish boots that I love to wear with leggings or tights.

13.Is Pumpkin Spice worth the Hype?
We don’t have it here (other than in the Starbucks pumpkin spice latte), but I don’t like pumpkin-anything, so I guess I wouldn’t like pumpkin spice either, so I’m probably the wrong person to ask.

Photo 29-11-2013 00 03 44

14.Favorite Fall TV Show?
Traditionally I gravitate back to The Tudors around this time of year, we all know that happened earlier this year and I am not quite ready to let it go yet. I also will probably go back to Gilmore Girls and Supernatural before long.

15.What song really gets you into the fall spirit?
This year it was definitely Mumford&Sons with both their Sigh No More and Babel albums, so not per se a song  more a music style.

I hope you enjoyed this TAG, and if you decide to do one, I would love it if you gave me a link to it, I just love reading/watching people’s answers to the Sweater Weather Tag at the moment.

I want to specifically tag my two besties Snowhoney and Munderoon, if you two can squeeze it into your schedules I would love to read your answers!

TAG: My Lucky 7

My darling Snowhoney tagged me to show my Lucky 7: The 7 products that never failed me and that I have returned to time and time again. So here goes:

Photo 05-11-2013 22 30 43

La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo (euro version)

1. La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo (European version)
This stuff is my absolute Holy Grail when it comes to keeping my skin clear. I am now on my second bottle and I don’t ever want to miss it again. I use this sort of like a serum between toner and moisturizer and after 2-3 days I have no active break outs anymore and the scarring has gone down to an absolute minimum.

Photo 05-11-2013 22 32 39

Balea Soft Oil Balm

2. Balea Soft Oil Balm
I am on my third bottle of this. This is the best body cream I ever used. The skin on my body is extremely dry and even drier in the winter. The Balea balm makes my skin look healthy and glowy and it feels extremely soft and smooth. It does contain 40% oil which means it doesn’t sink in quickly but I only use it at night after my shower and I put on my pj’s right away so it has a bit of an all-over-body mask effect. I cannot recommend this enough!

Gliss Kur Leave-in Conditioner Spray

3. Gliss Kur Leave-in Conditioner Spray
I’ve been using these for years religiously before I blow dry my hair. They add extra moisture to my dry hair and detangle within seconds, plus I usually love the smell. With these I always opt for the extra nourishing ones, my favorites are the Ultimate Repair and the Extreme Oil Elixir, which I am currently using. I only use it through my lenghts but it doesn’t weigh down my hair if some of the mist hits the roots (I still wouldn’t spray it directly onto the roots).

MAC Studio Fix Fluid NW10, MAC Creme d’Nude, MAC Matchmaster 1.0, MAC Feline Kohl Power

4. MAC Matchmaster/Studio Fix Fluid
Oh, I couldn’t live without my MAC foundations! For days where I need more coverage I go for the Studio Fix Fluid, when my skin is feeling better Matchmaster is enough. I actually prefer the formula of the Matchmaster, it is so light and comfortable and it helps keeping my T-Zone in check, but the Studio Fix Fluid is beautiful, too. MAC makes the only foundation shades that actually match my very pale, neutral skin. If either of them got discontinued I would probably break down and cry.

5. MAC Creme d’Nude
My first ever MAC lipstick, the one lipstick I will probably ever run out of, also the one I always reach for when I don’t know what to wear. It is nude without being too nude against my skin (I do like the dead nude look, though). It is creamy and moisturizing and for such a light color it lasts reasonably well on my lips.

6. MAC Feline Kohl Power
The creamiest blackest black that lasts on the waterline like nobody’s business. Man, was I relieved when this was added to the permanent line up. I wear this almost every single day.

essence better than gel nails top sealer

7. essence better than gel nails top sealer
I was quite fascinated when I realized I had at least one of every single version of the top sealer they have brought out in my empties bag. The fast dry was my favorite, sadly they don’t do that one anymore. The new version of the high gloss is pretty good though. The better than gel nails top sealer is THE top coat in Germany, it adds a cushion-y, brilliantly glossy layer to any mani, evens out even the roughest glitter polishes and little mistakes you may have made while painting your nails and it prolongs wear of even the most chippy nailpolishes. Ever since finding this I haven’t looked left or right. I wish they would stop experimenting with it. Dear essence, if you read this: Don’t fix something that ain’t broken! Also please bring the quick dry version back, it was the best you ever made!

Those were my lucky 7, I tag everyone who wants to do this tag! If you do, please send me the link to it, I would love to see your lucky 7!
