I’m gonna do something today that I haven’t done in a while and that is to bring you the press release for the upcoming Winter/Christmas limited edition of Catrice.
What can I say, I saw the packaging and may have hyperventillated a little. White and gold and stars. I mean STARS! The products seem to tick all of my boxes as well. Of course I don’t know anything yet about the quality, but Catrice has a good track record when it comes to quality. I would still suggest to not buy blindly and wait for some reviews, plus Catrice has recently been really good at providing testers with the LE trays. But enough with the yapping let’ s look at some pictures:
C01 Jewel Daze
C02 Caviar And Champagne
C03 Treasured Twinkles
Above you can see the three lipsticks that come with the collection. The cheat sheet that Catrice provided us with speaks of ‘intensive color’, ‘light texture’ and ‘subtle shine’. From that I would assume that they fall in the ball park of the usually black packaged Pure Color lipsticks which are usually creamy and pigmented with a buttery sheen. The colors ARE very basic with nude, coral and red BUT I’m not sure if I can contain myself because of the packaging. I MIGHT go for the red (not that I already have enough of those).
And this is the reason why I won’t be able to contain myself. If you click on the picture you can see the bigger version and you will see stars in the best way possible. Of course taste is a very personal but I think in terms of a drugstore Christmas LE Catrice are really knocking it out of the ball park packaging-wise.
C01 Jewel Daze
C02 Golden Grace
C03 Caviar And Champagne
C04 Treasured Twinkles
Nailpolishes are usually one of Catrice’s strength and after they got their brushes in check again, it should be fine. I do like the golden caps because I personally find them easier to wield, they do however make storage a lot harder. The colors fit with the collection and according to the cheat sheet they all have a pearl, no creams.
C01 Golden Grace
The eyeliner is another product that is going to lead me into temptation because it is golden. I love my colored liquid and gel liners and if this liner yields opaque color I’m gonna want it.
C01 Golden Grace
The cool tone of this gold should make it work for a lot of skin tones. I personally prefer sheen over sparkle so let’s hope there is none of that in there. And of course the embossed stars and the clear acrylic packaging definitely appeals to me.
C01 Caviar And Champagne
The cheat sheet calls this blush a combination of ‘warm rosewood with champagne highlights’. I would say the color is relatively unique in the drugstore because it is quite red. The blush seems to be the same size as the highlighter so you’ll get quite a nice amount of product.
C01 Blaze Of Glory
And last but not least the actual treasure trove of the collection: A neutral eyeshadow palette. Not overly cheap at 7,99€ but if the palette has a decent size (and it looks like the shadows are about the size of MAC shadows) it comes down to 1€ per shadow. The cheat sheet says, the palette contains matte as well as shimmery shades and the shadows are supposed to be silky-smooth and highly pigmented. Catrice shadows can be hit and miss, let’s hope these are a hit.
C01 Blaze Of Glory
Here is the lid of the case and yes, it makes my fingers itch and my wallett weep but MAN the design! Also it looks like a plastic case (Catrice uses cardboard boxes a lot in LEs but apperantly not this time) and the cheat sheet mentions an integrated mirror. Sounds pretty good to me and I will definitely look at the palette.
Now it’s your turn: What do you think? Are the colors too basic for you and the packaging too kitschy or are you about as excited about the limited edition as I am?
Once again Catrice is releasing a space-themed limited edition for spring. The focus here will be on holographic and metallic elements. Unlike the Luxury Lacquers this is a regular edition with eyeshadows, lipsticks, etc. Let’s have a look:
First up three baked eyeshadows. Their square shape reminds me of the Hourglass powders.
C01 Gem Into The Future
C03 Never Green Before
Next up is the iridescent liquid liner. If the multichrome translates on the eyes, this thing is really something special.
Moving on to face products, beginning with the iridescent topper. This is supposed to be a multipurpose liquid highlighter for eyes face and body.
In the same golden vein follow the blush pearls
Also part of the collection are two lipsticks.
C02 Holo Is The New Yolo
But a Catrice LE wouldn’t be a Catrice LE if there weren’t a couple of nailpolishes in there.
C01 Eletrix Blue
C02 Never Green Before
C05 Gem Into The Future
And last but not least the Holo-flakey topper
C01 Holo Is The New Yolo
My 2 cents:
Well, well, well. Personally I am mostely interested in the nailpolishes (quelle surprise). I am usually no big fan of baked eyeshadows or cream products on my skin. The eyeliner looks interesting, too, and if the multichrome is actually visible on the eye and you have occasions to wear it, I think, this could be really cool. The blush pearls again are not for me. I just don’t like this hybrid of loose and pressed powders and in front of my inner eye I see my cat playing with these and smearing the powder everywhere. Not such a great visual. The purple lipstick reminds me a lot of a lipstick I picked up about two years ago from another space-themed Catrice LE. It is very sheer and has the most amazing holographic bits in the formula. More a layering product and whenever I swatch it again I make a solemn vow to wear it more (it never comes to that but it IS really pretty). Obviously I cannot guarantee you that it is the same, but it sure looks like it.
Here we are. The nailpolishes. From what I read there will be two duochromes, two holos and one with iridescent flakeys mixed in. After the huge success of the Luxury Lacquer holos (NotD’s on the sisterhood blog soon!) which were mindblowing for drugstore polishes, my hopes are somewhat high for these. To me they are THE highlight. Let’s all hope they are true holos.
The duochromes will be fine, I’m sure. The Catrice duochromes have always been solid in the past.
That was a bit of a long 2 cents but you get the gist. I don’t think I have to say again, that Catrice usually great quality and I have yet to find a product that really tanks. So yeah, I really can’t wait to take a look at the collection.
Is there anything you like from this collection? Or doesn’t it tickle your fancy at all? Share in the comments, I would love to hear from you!
I’ve been a bad beauty blogger, I didn’t share all of the press releases with you that I got. Some of them I will share with you over the next two weeks or so, BUT I am also debating right now whether I should just show you the products I think are worth showing, because these PR posts tend to get really long. Let me know if you are okay with me limiting them or if you want to see the whole deal!
For now, let’s start with the press release that I have been wanting to show you ever since I got it:
Catrice is putting out a collection that I have been waiting for. Every year they release a collection that is made up completely of nailpolishes and they usually put a lot of effort into these collections and come up with fabulous colors, textures and finishes and this time I feel they have outdone themselves yet again! The collection will be up from the beginning of March 2014.
Part 1: Million Brilliance (8 polishes)
These sound like absolute glitter bombs
C02 Glitz Carlton
C04 The Big Bling Theory
C05 Walk Of Glitters
C06 Glitters Are A Girl?s Best Friend
C07 Sweet Glitzteen
C08 Glitter Me If You Can
Part 2: Sand’sation (8 polishes)
These sound like the p2 Sand Styles, which means not as strongly glittery as the Crushed Crystals that Catrice brought out with the new range but also not matte like the one I got out of some other collection of theirs’.
C01 100 perSAND Real
C05 Strawberry BAYquiri
C06 It’s a PINKini World
C08 Waikiki Peach
Part 3: Holomania (4 polishes)
Catrice is doing holo right. I already saw a sneak peek of the holo polishes and they are holos indeed, maybe not as strong as the indie ones but they are proper holos!
C01 Holo Manolo
C02 ApHolo 7
C03 Holo In One
C04 Plum Me Up Scotty
Part 4: Chameleon (4 polishes)
These are per Catrice duochromes. Duochromes is another thing that Catrice does very well (see especially Berry Potter and Plumbledore from the standard range here).
C05 Chromeo & Julia
C06 Chromit & Miss Pinky
C07 Salmon Salmon But Different
C08 C(h)ome, Leon!
My 2 cents:
I have mentioned before I am excited for these especially the holos, Plumbeach from the Sand’sation ones and C(h)ome, Leon! and Chromio & Julia are tugging on my heartstrings. I can’t wait to see them in person! The quality should be good on these usually there is no big quality difference between collection and standard polishes at Catrice.
Do you guys like any of these? Will you rush out and buy one?
I have another essence sneak peek for you and this time I have the deeds for the upcoming Valentine’s Day limited edition named Love Letters.
The limited edition contains an eyeshadow palette, 2 eyeliner pencils, 2 sheer lip balm sticks, a highlighting powder, 4 nailpolishes, a stamping set, blotting paper and a diary and will be available from mid-january to february 2014.
01 ever thine, ever mine, ever ours
02 grey-headed lovebird
01 rosy in love
02 dear peach
01 love poem
01 rosy in love
02 I got a crush on blue!
03 grey-headed lovebird
01 I’m on cloud nine
Template of the stamping set
01 paper romance
Love Letters Diary 01 paper romance
My 2 cents:
It’s pretty, it’s perfect for Valentine’s Day and it is not for me. I like the idea with the focus on vintage-y love letters, the design is lovely, especially with the embossing on the highlighting powder (1 corinthians 13 -yep, I know my bible), but you know me – the darker the better, pastells are usually just not my thing. So if you like it go for it, they put a lot of effort into this and I am sure the quality will be decent as always!
