Blogmas Day #9: [Media Update] Christmas Eps….

Today was a pretty productive day that hopefully kicks off a productive week! I went to job #2, sorted some grown-up stuff, took pics for tomorrow’s christmas make up – fingers crossed they turned out okay-, and now I have Awolnation on my ears (it’s love!) and I’m ready to blog up a storm before I take a long shower and snuggle in with my cat and Scherbenmond 🙂

Oh, do you want to see what I see when I blog? Here ya go:

As christmas approaches I like to watch christmassy stuff and a lot of my favorite tv shows have produced christmas episodes and last year I made a (incomplete) list of all the christmas eps I have on dvd. I know this is a rather boring post but maybe some of you will like it and please feel free to add episodes of your fave tv shows, so maybe by next year we have a better, more complete list:

The Big Bang Theory:
2×11 The Bath Item Gift Hypothesis
3×11 The Maternal Congruence

1×09 The Man in the Fallout Shelter (one of my big time favorites, so beautiful and so sad!)
3×09 The Santa in the Slush
5×10 The Goop on the Girl (with Zoe Deschanel!)

The Closer:
3×14 & 15 Next of Kin: Part 1&2
6×13&14 Living Proof: Part 1&2

Hawaii Five-O:
1×12 Hana ‘a’a Makehawa

Gilmore Girls:
1×10 Forgiveness and Stuff
7×10&11 Merry Fisticuffs/ Santa’s Secret Stuff

Gossip Girl:
1×11 Roman Holiday

3×08 A Very Supernatural Christmas

The Tudors:
1×02 Simply Henry
2×04 The Act of Succession
3×03 Dissension and Punishment
4×02 Sister

Veronica Mars:
1×10 An Echolls Family Christmas
2×10 One Angry Veronica

I can’t wait to go through these one by one over the course of the weeks. A couple of those are great favorites of mine.

Oh by the way I started to watch Gossip Girl S1 again last night. I needed something to take the edge off after the Fast and the Furious desaster…

Sunday Round Up #5: Grumpy Skin and Unbreakable Powder

Palettes, Grumpy Skin, The Unbreakable Powder

Palettes, Grumpy Skin, The Unbreakable Powder

It was a palette-kind-of-week.
I am officially starting to get into the christmas mood and that includes me breaking out my sparkly palettes and metallic toned eyeshadows. This week I was all over my old L’Oréal Color Appeal Trio Pro palettes (both from a christmas collection and sadly not available anymore) and I picked up one of the Catrice Arts Collection palettes. After test driving it a little bit, I can say I’m glad I have it. The colors are really nice, the quality is good and especially the blush is super pretty. It gives the loveliest rosy glow *__*

The Unbreakable Powder.
Ages ago I hit pan on my L’Oréal perfect match powder. And it just won’t give in and crumble. Don’t get me wrong it is a nice product, very finely milled, mattifying but barely visible on the skin but at this point it is starting to get tedious to get anything out. I don’t want to toss it though for one because I have the ambition to properly finish it and two because it just feels wrong. I mean there is nothing wrong with the product, it is just inconvenient. Oh well, I will continue to scrape then.

Grumpy Skin.
I am back to MAC. Literally. After using my Catrice All Matt Plus for two weeks my skin lost it. All of a sudden I developed cystic acne all over my face and my cheeks turned into blackhead-city. I always have issues with the evil bh’s (tmi, sorry!) but never as horrible as this, there was no milimeter of my skin that was not bumps and roughness. Result: I am back on Neutrogena visibly clear Anti-Blackhead Daily Peeling (why did I ever stop using this?) and my MAC foundations. After two days with the Neutrogena my skin already looks better.
PS: Just because the foundation freaked out my skin it doesn’t have to freak out yours, I’d still recommend it!

Taming my Nailpolish Collection.
I re-organized my nailpolish collection in attempt to keep an eye on what I have, tossing what doesn’t work and picking out colors for christmas, if you want to find out more about what I did there will be a post later this week on the sisterhood blog.

got2b, Bookthings and DVDs, Yankee Candle Sugared Apple

got2b, Bookthings and DVDs, Yankee Candle Sugared Apple

I officially started reading Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel and I already love it. Easily one of the best books I ever read and the style is brilliant, also I am currently covering romantic poetry in class and I am all over that. The Romantic Period (especially the dark variety) is my favorite literary epoch. If you ever needed a reason why I study literature: this is definitely one of them.

I am about to finish The Tudors. Again. And again there will be bitter tears for my dying Charles Brandon. Gah. 😦
Pacific Rim is still in it’s original wrapping because I am still waiting for the perfect moment to watch it. Hmph.
Dug out my got2b products. Review?
Yankee Candle Sugared Apple tart was brilliant. First fresh and fruity, then vanilla-y and sugary. YUM.

I hope you all had a great, comfy sunday and now on to happy, productive, new week!

Sunday Round Up #1: What I’ve been up to this week

I don’t even know where to begin. School started two weeks ago and I still don’t know how to balance it with life and work. I feel like everybody is pulling at me and I am stretched so very thin.

True to form I tried to make the best of it and failed miserably most of the time.

anti clockwise: fave music, TEA!, amazon haul, back to henry, fave eye combo, books of the week

As per usual the only thing to preserve my sanity is to immerse myself in music, books and dvds that make me happy and let me forget the mess of the day temporarily (escapeism deluxe!)

Over the week I had a massive amazon haul coming in, some of it was preordered, the rest the result of a nightly slip up. I will do a haul post on this when I have my issues with amazon resolved and the last item is in.

Book-wise this week was split between Shadow of Night by Deborah Harkness and  Allegiant by Veronica Roth which finally came out this week (another ginormous amazon f*ck up, but more on that in the haul post). I’ve been flying through Allegiant every spare minute of the week and I will probably finish it tonight. I am sad to see the series go, it is definitely one of my favorites.

Deborah Harkness never ceases to amaze me. I love Shadow of Night but given it’s complexity I just can’t inhale it the way I am inhaling Allegiant at the moment.

Sticking with the Early Modern/Tudor theme of both my seminars in college and Shadow of Night I was irresistably driven back into the arm of Henry and the Tudors. I launched another re-watch, I can’t seem to get enough. As you probably have seen in the haul pic above I have the final season Borgias sitting here too but I am actually terrified to watch it, I know the end will break my heart for the simple reason that it wasn’t supposed to be the end. My Veronica Mars peeps will know what I am talking about (even though we have our very own happy ending now).

About two weeks ago a sale introduced Mumford&Sons’ Babel to my iMusic app and I haven’t looked back since. It is just the perfect mix of raw, energetic, sad and powerful. By now I have also picked up Sigh No More and man, they just can’t write a song I don’t like. Brilliant.

It is the winter term and fall is in full swing around my house. This leads to me not leaving the house without steaming hot tea in a thermal mug in my hands. My favorite for the mornings has been Teekanne Chinese Sencha with Apple and Elder Blossom. Instead of honey I use apple juice to sweeten it and I just can’t get enough. In the afternoon I tend to opt for a variety of caffeine-free fruit infusions. Yum!

And for the make up lovers among us you can find the eye combo I’ve been wearing all week in the pic above: Catrice specteculART Pure Chrome shadow in C01 So Precious (jelly powder texture, green gold, so smooth and pretty!) all over the lid and blended through the crease with Max Factor Liquid Effect Pencil in Brown Blaze as a flicked half line and lightly blended underneath the eye. If I get a chance to snap pics next week I’ll write you a longer blogpost about it if you like.

I’m sorry I have nothing more fun for you! I hope you’re all having a lovely week end!
